Luke Askew B.Ost
Registered Osteopath and Pilates instructor at Leytonstone Osteopathy
Luke Askew is a fully registered osteopath based in Leytonstone, East London, helping patients from Leytonstone, Wanstead, South Woodford, Leyton and Walthamstow get out of pain and back to doing what they love. With a background as a professional dancer and over a decade of clinical experience, Luke combines hands-on osteopathic treatment with clinically modified Pilates to treat the cause of your pain — not just the symptoms.
Whether you’re dealing with back pain, neck pain, sciatica, shoulder injuries, headaches, sports injuries or postural problems from desk work, Luke offers tailored treatment plans designed around your lifestyle and recovery goals.
An osteopath, with a history of movement and biomechanics
Movement and biomechanics have been a lifelong passion of Luke’s. Before training as an osteopath, he was a professional dancer and holds two teaching qualifications with Distinction from the I.S.T.D — the world’s leading dance examination society. That background shapes how he works: It’s not just ‘treat the painful area’, he looks at how your whole body moves and compensates.
After graduating from the British School of Osteopathy after four years of full-time study, which included over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice, his postgraduate training has been led by what his patients actually need, with a strong focus on evidence-based therapy.
Conditions Luke treats
Luke sees patients of all ages and activity levels. Common conditions treated at the Leytonstone clinic include:
- Lower back pain and sciatica
- Neck pain, stiffness and tension headaches
- Shoulder pain, including frozen shoulder
- Hip, knee and ankle problems
- Sports injuries and repetitive strain
- Postural pain from desk work and commuting
- Pregnancy-related aches and pains
- Rehabilitation after injury or surgery
Hands-on treatment, with rehab you can actually do
Luke uses a blend of structural osteopathy, soft tissue work and clinically modified Pilates to get you moving well again. Hands-on treatment is only half the picture — lasting results usually come from targeted strengthening and mobility work between sessions, which is where my teaching background really helps. You’ll be prescribed exercises pitched to your current level and they’ll be adjusted as you improve.
It’s important to communicate effectively, so you’ll be encouraged to ask questions throughout the journey. Understanding why you’re in pain is one of the fastest routes to recovery and the best way to stop it coming back.
